Bacon confit with maple syrup
Recipe for bacon confit with maple syrup
Ingredients for 6 people
Preparation
Count 5 minutes of preparation and about 30 minutes of cooking.
- Start by preheating the oven to 200°C.
- Line your drip pan with several sheets of aluminum foil. This will prevent the fat from cooking directly on the plate, which is quite laborious to clean. The oven rack will be placed over the broiler pan.
- Line up the bacon sheets on the grill, taking care to space them well. Please note that they should not overlap.
- Mix mustard and maple syrup in a bowl. Brush the top of the bacon slices with this mixture using a pastry brush.
- Bake for fifteen minutes.
- Take the rack out of the oven and flip the bacon slices. Brush the other side with the mustard and maple syrup mixture.
- Bake again until the bacon is crispy. An additional 10 to 15 minutes will suffice, depending on how crispy you are looking for.
- Remove the rack from the oven, being careful not to burn yourself, and sprinkle with pepper. Wait 5 minutes before serving your candied maple bacon slices.

Bacon slices candied in maple syrup are also used with Bloody Marys. You can also serve your bacon confit with a Bloody Caesar, the Canadian version of the Bloody Mary. To make it, simply replace the tomato juice with Clamato, a tomato juice containing spices and clam juice.
Will children be present during breakfast or brunch? You can very well make this cocktail without vodka so that all your guests can enjoy it!
