Canadian Candy Potato Recipe
History
In Canada, colonization was marked by poverty. Food was scarce and Canadian cuisine revolved around three foods. We are talking about carrots and potatoes here. THE ground beef completes this list. Fortunately, cooking enthusiasts did not lack originality. Unfortunately, children could not eat sweets in those days. Also, to satisfy them, Canadians made candies with the ingredients they had on hand. We had the idea of offering potato candies to the little ones. The result is quite successful and the maple butter makes the recipe even more delicious.
Ingredients
- A quarter cup of cold, plain mashed potatoes
- 7.5 ml vanilla extract
- 3 cups of icing sugar
Preparation
In a bowl, start by mixing the vanilla mashed potatoes. You can then add the icing sugar little by little using a wooden spoon. You will obtain a soft and easy-to-work dough.
Use icing sugar to dust the work surface. Knead the dough to give it a pie crust texture. Lower it onto parchment paper. Cut out a rectangle measuring 20 x 35 cm.
Spread the peanut butter over the dough. Beforehand, you can reheat it in the microwave. Lift the paper and roll up the dough. Slide it onto a baking sheet before putting it in the refrigerator for an hour. Cut the dough into slices (1 cm thick) on the work surface. You can use an airtight container to store the candy.
