Discover Quebec rums
While Puerto Rico has always been the world's leading rum producer, Canada is now becoming one of the most powerful distilleries. The province of Quebec has played a major role in this transition, particularly with the creation of the Société des alcools du Québec (SAQ). Currently, Quebec rum is doing very well and is very successful with both local and foreign consumers. Let's discover Quebec rums: the specificities as well as the different types.
The specificity of Quebec rums
Quebec has been the stronghold of many Canadian distilleries for decades. There are nearly 200 lines of spirits (wines, rums, gin, whisky, etc.) produced across the province. Like the whiskey and gin, Quebec rum is an exceptional product. Developed with true traditional know-how, this type of spirit is marketed under the aegis of the SAQ, a state-owned company that holds a monopoly on the purchase, importation and trade of alcoholic beverages in QuebecIn particular, the province produces different types of locally produced rums: white, amber, flavored, spiced, brown, black and many more.
