Canadian Breakfast
A hearty first meal
We take the Canadian breakfast from the first hour of the morning to have the nutrients necessary for well-being. This traditional meal consists of typical foods from Canada. These include bacon or pork sausages, cooked eggs, sautéed potatoes, pancakes or French toast, toast, cereal, syrup and sometimes hot oatmeal. Those who don't have time for breakfast choose just a few of these items.
This rich cuisine is directly linked to the inclement climate and very low temperatures. Thus, a good breakfast allows you to face the harshness of winter. Colonized territories such as Quebec, for their part, follow culinary traditions from Irish and French cuisines. They adapt to local conditions.
Ingredients and preparation
To prepare a Canadian breakfast, you need:
Preparation time: 30 mins
Cooking time: 25 mins
Number of servings: 02
Ingredients
− 140g flour
− 2 tablespoons of sugar
− 8 slices of bacon
− 2 level teaspoons of baking powder
− 1 teaspoon vegetable oil
− 250ml milk
− 2 tablespoons soft butter
− 5 eggs
− Maple syrup
− ½ teaspoon of salt
Preparation
To prepare the pancakes, use a mixing bowl to mix the sugar, flour and baking powder. Stir well using a whisk. Then add the soft butter, milk, oil and an egg.
Add salt to your mixture and get a thicker texture than pancake batter. To cook your pancakes, pour vegetable oil into the pan and add a ladleful of batter when the oil is hot. Cook for 3 minutes on each side. Drizzle them with maple syrup.
For the bacon, just let it cook for 5 minutes on both sides in a pan and without adding fat. Place your bacon slices on paper towel to remove excess fat.
Fry your eggs in a pan for a few minutes.
Serve your breakfast with coffee or fruit juice. You can add oatmeal or cereal according to your desires.
