What about maple syrup? Discovered before the arrival of Jacques-Cartier, this Quebec product remains one of the most popular. According to the story, the fall of a maple branch attracted the dogs of the Native Americans who reveled in the sap of the tree. This allowed people to taste the maple syrup. Another version speaks of a squirrel that ran along a tree. A branch broke, releasing the sap that the squirrel began to lick. Astonished, an Amerindian came to taste it in turn. He was surprised by this delicious tasting nectar.
