Where to find a real restaurant offering poutine in France?
Poutine is a typical Canadian dish made famous by its cheese with an amazing texture. Once you taste it, you often want to eat it. But where to find a good poutine in France? We give you our best addresses!
What is Poutine?
Poutine is a Quebec recipe that was created in the 1950s. It is a dish of hot fries sprinkled with cheese curds. The whole thing is topped with a brown sauce, most often with meat. The cheese also makes the dish famous. It is in fact the famous squeaky cheese that squeaks under the tooth. To make a good poutine, we use fresh cheese.
Most Canadian restaurants in France - if not all - serve this traditional dish. However, to be sure to eat an authentic poutine, we prefer establishments that use Canadian cheese curds. The latter comes from a Canadian dairy. In France, some dairies also produce this good fresh cheese.
The House of Poutine
This brand won the award for the best international Poutine in 2019, 2020 and 2022. And for good reason, it produces its own cheese curds to offer the best taste experience. Since opening its first store in 2017, Maison de la Poutine now has 3 establishments, or poutineries. You will find two addresses in Paris, and another in Toulouse.
La Maison de la Poutine has recently become known for its giant poutine. The latest one was prepared in Toulouse: it was a free poutine in honor of the Fête nationale du Québec.
The brand also serves a 100% poutine% vegetarian, and whose recipe was developed by their chefs: “Erwan Caradec” and “Sébastien Cardinal”. Note that La Maison de la Poutine regularly releases ephemeral recipes, such as the vegetarian Papa Noël poutine with truffle sauce. This is the Boréale, the same one that allowed the brand to win the prize for the best poutine internationally in 2022. It is the “Joyeux Anniversaire” in 2019 and the “Trappeur” in 2020 that allowed La Maison de la Poutine to win this prize.
As you can see, fans of original poutine or followers of creativity, you will certainly like this address! In addition to their poutines, you can drink milkshakes there. Savor delicious desserts that remind you of Canada! With the atmosphere that is cooling down, the dishes of this brand are a must.
