Canadian dinner of Gaspésie quiche with northern shrimp
History and particularities of the northern shrimp
This seafood is the star of this Canadian culinary preparation. Matane or Nordic shrimp stand out for their delicately sweet flavor. They have a fairly firm texture. They are cooked by sautéing them to incorporate them into different gastronomic specialties. Here we THE incorporated into the Gaspésie quiche recipe. In addition, this species contains more omega-3 than shrimp from tropical countries.
The northern shrimp lives in the North Pacific Ocean and the North Atlantic Ocean. It prefers cold waters with a temperature below 5 degrees. This species prefers muddy bottoms. It is also found in the Eastern Pacific. In Canada, the northern shrimp fishery is concentrated on the East Coast of Newfoundland, in the Gulf of St. Lawrence and in the Davis Strait.
To stock up, go to the frozen food and seafood section. Thanks to this preservation technique, northern shrimp maintains its freshness and flavors.
