Delicious Canadian recipe for sisters farts
History
Le fart de cœur is one of the classic French-Canadian dishes. This is a typically Acadian and Quebecois dish. It is often served to guests during festivities. This pastry presented in the form of a brioche contains brown sugar and maple syrup. Everything is baked in the oven. According to history, this traditional Acadia meal has its origins in convents. The sister's fart was prepared by the good sisters themselves in Quebec. To do this, they used leftover pie crusts. This recipe therefore allows you to avoid any form of food waste.
Ingredients
- 80 ml of maple syrup
For the dough
- 125 ml of very cold water
- 375 ml of flour
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- 80 ml soft butter
For garnish
- 60 ml soft butter
- 180 ml brown sugar
- 5 ml of cinnamon
Preparation
Place the ingredients that will make the dough into a food processor. Mix until you get a ball-shaped dough. Wrap the latter in plastic wrap before placing it in the refrigerator for thirty minutes.
Preheat your oven to 180 degrees. In a clean bowl, mix the ingredients that make up the filling. On a floured surface, roll out your dough and cover it with the filling. Then roll it up tightly. Cut everything into ten rounds of equal thickness.
Butter a square baking dish and place the pasta rounds. Drizzle them with maple syrup and cook for 35 minutes, monitoring the cooking closely.
A family recipe
We love this Canadian preparation for its sweet flavor combining maple syrup and brown sugar. It stands out for its tenderly spiced cinnamon paste. This dessert has the merit of pleasing everyone. Note that you can also serve it as a snack. To cook it, you can ask your partner and children for a helping hand.
Additionally, you can try a twist by replacing the brown sugar with molasses. Moreover, note that originally, we just used brown sugar. Alternatively, why not replace the brown sugar with a delicious, flavorful caramel sauce? Did you know ? There is also a sister's fart pie? Certainly, Acadian gastronomy has never ceased to amaze us.
