Valentine's Day: Berry and maple tartlet-recipe
To properly celebrate this special day, discover the recipe for a berry and maple tartlet, ideal to be enjoyed with your partner after a romantic dinner. We give you all the secrets of the preparation here.
History
The origins of Valentine's Day probably date back to ancient Rome with Lupercalia, holidays celebrated between February 13 and 15. In the 3rd century, the Christian priest Saint Valentine of Terni was executed in Rome on February 14. According to legend, he was arrested because he celebrated weddings even though the emperor had forbidden them for his soldiers. It was not until the 14th century that Pope Alexander IV made Saint Valentine the official patron saint of lovers.
It is also remembered that the month of February corresponds to the month of the year when birds begin to pair up again. This makes this month the natural time to pair up and celebrate love.

H3: Ingredients
-
1 roll of shortcrust pastry;

1 cup mixed berries;
-
½ cup maple syrup;
-
1 tablespoon of cornstarch;
-
1 tablespoon of water;
-
Icing sugar.
Preparation
Preheat the oven to 180°C. Roll out the shortcrust pastry and cut out circles to form the tart shells. Place them in individual tartlet molds. Prick the bottom of the tartlets with a fork to prevent them from swelling during cooking. Bake them for about 15 minutes, or until golden brown. Let them cool. Meanwhile, prepare the berry filling. In a saucepan, mix the berries, maple syrup and cornstarch diluted in water. Heat over medium heat until the mixture thickens. Let cool slightly. Once the tart shells have cooled, fill them with the berry filling. Place the tartlets in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours so that they solidify. Before serving, sprinkle with icing sugar for an extra touch of sweetness.
