This Chardonnay-type Canadian white wine has a clear, straw-coloured robe. It is a balanced and modern dry wine, as the region knows how to produce. On the nose, it reveals aromas of melon and honey. Once in the mouth, this Chardonnay from the Pelee Island brand reveals surprises. It's fruity flavors of lime and peach, with a hint of acidity and a very pleasant spice finish. It has an alcohol content of 12.5 % and is offered by the brand in a 750 ml bottle.
The producer suggests pairing it with salads and poultry pasta so they compliment each other. It can also be enjoyed with other dishes based on white meats or with desserts. It is also a good idea to serve it - always at the end of the meal - with a cheese selection platter. To taste it and discover it in the best conditions, don't forget that it is served well chilled.
The winery is located in the center of Pelee Island, or Pelee Island, hence the name of the brand. On this part of the island, the conditions offered by the soil are optimal for the cultivation of the Vinifera vine and its varieties. The first plants were planted there in 1854 and the brand received its first distinctions in 1878 during the Paris International Fair. The President of the brand, the German Walter Schmoranz, is a pioneer in the production of wine in Canada. He brings his know-how by joining Peele Island in 1986 and helps to promote the brand around the world. In particular, he helped him win many prestigious prizes, such as the gold medal of the Citadel of France for his ice wine Cabernet 2002.
From Pelée Island, Canada's largest wine-growing island, in the middle of Lake Erie. A unique terroir: limestone soils, climate tempered by the lake, ideal exposure. Pelée Island Winery is Canada's oldest winery (since 1866). Serious and traditional.
A fresh and fruity Chardonnay, closer to Chablis style than to rich Burgundy. Notes of green apple, citrus, white flowers, with beautiful minerality. No overwhelming oak: pure fruit purity. Ideal for those who don't like overly buttery Chardonnays.
Store the bottle lying down, in a cool place (10-14°C) away from light. Drink within 2-3 years of bottling to enjoy its freshness. Serve at 10-12°C in a tulip white wine glass. Decanting is not necessary.
Perfect with grilled or smoked fish (salmon, trout), seafood (oysters, scallops, Quebec lobster), asparagus risotto. Also great with fresh goat cheese or herb-roasted chicken. Avoid overly spiced or tannic dishes.
The harsh continental climate produces ultra-ripe grapes with acidity preserved by cool nights. No irrigation: vines plunge their roots deep, which brings this signature minerality. A style to discover, halfway between France and California.
For the curious about Canadian wine, lovers of fresh Chardonnays (Chablis, Sancerre), those who want to step off the beaten path. Ideal as an aperitif with friends or for dinner. An original gift for wine enthusiasts who've already tasted everything in Europe.
