The history of the Givré brand and ice wine

Icewine was not invented in Quebec, but we appreciate it because it is reminiscent of the climate that reigns in Canada. We discovered it in 1974 when a cold snap froze the grapes. The winegrowers fearing to lose the crops decide to harvest. They get sweet wine.

The brand

Naturally frozen grapes are used to make Quebec Icewine. These grapes are pressurized at a temperature below 8°C. It was in 1985 that the winegrowers started producing ice wine.

The conditions in Quebec are optimal and are conducive to the production of ice wine. The low level of humidity, the cold and the wind accelerate the dehydration of the grapes. The water evaporates giving way to the acidity and the sugar making the subtlety of the fruit.

In Quebec, we know that the grapes are subject to slow cooking which gives all its flavors to the wine. Icewine is fresh and perfectly balanced. This is why it is different from other wines.

Discovering Givré ice cider

The ice cider is tender and velvety on the palate. It is simply exquisite and we recommend it to start an aperitif with friends or family. Musts and apples remain frozen in the winter cold (-40°C) like Quebec grapes. We then obtain very concentrated juice, rich in aromas and flavors, which does not fail to titillate the taste buds. It only remains to taste with a nice portion of foie gras or a slice of goat cheese.

It is recommended to serve this drink at 8 or 10°C maximum. It is even a good idea to frost the glasses before serving the guests.
