The Quebec maple sugar chunk pouch is maple sugar crystallised and then broken into large irregular chunks. Grainier and more rustic than the nuggets, almost like rock candy. Amber colour varying piece to piece. More visual and artisan than fine sugar — you can see the sugar-maker's craft.
Difference with fine sugar: here you have big chunks to crunch, not a powder. Difference with the nuggets: the chunks are larger and more irregular, more visual. The least melty of the three, the most visible. Ideal as a showy topping or for a rustic presentation effect on your desserts.
Keep the pouch dry, at room temperature, resealed after use. The big chunks resist moisture particularly well — they stay crunchy for ages. 1 year after opening with no issue. Use: as a rustic topping, crushed over desserts, or to sweeten a hot tea in place of regular sugar.
No major allergens: gluten-free, lactose-free, nut-free, egg-free, vegan. Health-wise, same benefits as any maple sugar: minerals (manganese, zinc, calcium) and antioxidants.
