It's the real Muskoka chair in Canadian pine, by Bear Chair Company — a historic Quebec brand with over 30 years of improvements on this model. Ready to assemble (flat-pack, simple screwing), natural untreated wood for you to finish your way: leave raw, stain, paint. The traditional Canadian-cabin charm, built for quiet afternoons with coffee or a drink. Classic multi-slat Adirondack shape.
The HDPE versions (7497 and 7653) are thick recycled plastic: zero care, multiple colors or modern design, very long warranty. This one is the opposite: real Canadian pine wood, friendlier price, but needs care (re-stain every 1–2 years to protect, or let it grey naturally). The authentic wood charm, the smell, the warm feel, the patina of time. Bear Chair brand = historic Canadian cred. Your call: authenticity or peace of mind.
Wood needs a bit more attention than HDPE. Before use: protect with an outdoor stain or wood saturator (natural, tinted or paint). Re-apply every 1–2 years depending on exposure. For winter: ideally store under a roof or use a waterproof cover. Left raw, pine greys naturally — authentic cabin look, but wood wears faster. Cleaning: warm water and a soft brush, never high pressure.
Solid Canadian pine, thick slats, screws and hardware included. Delivered as a flat-pack kit (flat box = easy transport, lower cost) — assembly in 30–45 min with a power screwdriver. Low Adirondack seat height (~35 cm), ergonomically angled back with contoured slats, generous armrests. Pine is lighter to move than other woods (oak, etc.) while staying sturdy. Bear Chair model for 30+ years.
The trick: pine paints really well — pick your color (cabin red, fir green, cream white) to match your garden. With outdoor acrylic paint, you get a one-of-a-kind look. Tip: primer first, then 2 coats. For comfort, add a water-repellent seat and back cushion. Standout gift for a housewarming or Father's Day — the DIY finish is part of the fun.
At €169.99 incl. VAT, that's an excellent price for a solid Canadian wooden Adirondack chair from Bear Chair. You're paying for real Canadian pine (not low-grade European pine), historic craftsmanship with 30 years of refinement, and flat-pack shipping that makes European delivery affordable. Compared to wooden Adirondack chairs on the European market at €250–400 — often poor wood and not authentic — here you get the real thing. North American authenticity at an affordable price.
